Breakdancing with Calvin Walker

A collaboration between Ballet Wolcott and River Arts of Morrisville brings Calvin Walker to the studio on Pleasant Street in Morrisville for this one time workshop.
Students will be introduced to toprock, footwork, freezes, and power moves which will serve as a foundation that leads to more complex maneuvers. Class will include relevant instruction on stretching and balance exercises.
The Ballet Wolcott began as a collaboration between three women, Helene Nilsen, Brandy Ofciarcik-Perez, and Avi Waring. Helene and Avi met while dancing with June Gorton and the Wolcott Children’s Ballet Company in the 1980’s at the Wolcott Town Hall and so felt a need to give back to the area where their dance training began. Brandy trained and danced in Pennsylvania and Maryland. When she moved to Vermont, she met Helene and Avi and knew that she wanted to join these women in sharing dance with the community. All three love dancing as well as teaching dance and want to offer affordable quality dance education in the rural setting of Wolcott. It began with a conversation; and, pretty soon, they were posting flyers and beginning their first classes in the fall of 2007. Helene, Brandy and Avi believe that access to creativity and progression through technical training of dance are among the greatest ways for children to learn problem solving and develop healthy self esteem.
The primary aim of Ballet Wolcott is to foster healthy development and creativity in our students by providing them with quality dance education and the opportunity to become involved in the creative process in a nurturing environment.
