Creativity and Community Through Dance

Join the Ballet Wolcott dance community!

Ballet Wolcott, a grassroots non-profit focusing on the education and training of young dancers in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment, is looking for an Artistic Director/Executive Director (AD/ED) to drive our mission forward. The AD/ED is the head of staff and ultimately responsible for ensuring that all components of the non-profit are operating effectively and in accordance with the organization’s mission, values and culture.

Ballet Wolcott, with a legendary history dating back to 1977, is poised to grow, and the ideal candidate will gracefully combine sound business leadership with creative vision to develop a sustainable organization, well positioned to stand out in the community and attract top talent and new students. The AD/ED will be responsible for creating a financially responsible budget, while managing teaching staff, facilities, and class registrations. As the public face of the organization, he/she will represent the ballet company to artists, patrons, sponsors and the community.

This position will also be responsible for shaping a curriculum that supports the organizations “community dance” mission, while also challenging our dancers to grow and improve. As the driving creative force within the organization, the AD/ED will set the season and lead production for our multiple annual performances, many of which occur at the newly-constructed Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro, Vermont.

He/she should be an attractive force—one whose quality of work attracts dancers and families to participate in shows, sponsors and grantors to financially support the shows, and patrons to see the shows. He/she will report to the Board of Directors and must enjoy collaborating with them, the Founders, and other community volunteers and have the ability, willingness and patience to work with a range of dancers across a wide variety of ages and skill levels.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Two years experience in leadership of a dance arts organization/not-for-profit organization, or school, including: artistic vision/season selection of productions and events, managing budgets, and fundraising. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills, including functional knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. B.A. required; BFA in Arts Administration or Dance a plus, or comparable professional experience.

SALARY: Starting salary range dependent on experience. Potential housing opportunities in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
