Instructor
Ballet Wolcott is a vibrant and growing non-profit ballet school dedicated to excellence in classical ballet training, performance, and community engagement. We are committed to fostering artistry, discipline, and confidence in every student.
We are seeking an enthusiastic dance teacher to teach students ages 3-10 at beginner levels on Saturday mornings, starting in September.
(Creative Movement, ages 3-5; Ballet 1, ages 5-7; and possibly one or two additional classes, e.g. Jazz and/or Tap, and/or Ballet 2, ages 7-10.)
Pay: $25-40 per hour, based on experience Reports to: Artistic Director
Responsibilities:
Plan and conduct engaging dance classes for students of varying ages and abilities.
Teach dance technique, terminology, and choreography.
Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity and expression.
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students improve their skills and technique.
Collaborate with other dance instructors and staff to coordinate performances and events.
Communicate with students and parents as appropriate, and report any issues or concerns to Executive Director as needed.
Stage and/or assist in staging excerpts of classical repertoire, and/or choreograph original pieces for student performances, as assigned.
Support the organization by participating in community events and performances.
Light studio cleanup, organization, decoration of studio, space, including light maintenance.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a ballet teacher or instructor.
Strong knowledge of ballet technique, terminology, and repertoire. Knowledge of other dance genres preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire students of all ages and skill levels.
Patient, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching dance.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Ballet teaching certification or relevant degree preferred, but not required.
